So, I stopped by Big Al’s to grad a sandwich between jobs today, having expected Spicy Pickle to still be there..

I talked to the owner about the new change, wondering if maybe the chain had been sold.

Instead, I learned that Spicy Pickle was deciding to make some pretty big changes to their menu: no longer baking their own breads every morning and making sandwiches from canned/frozen vegetables or even premade foods rather than fresh ingredients.

So, the owner decided she was more committed to fresh foods than Spicy Pickle’s corporate office, and her husband bought the store to open it as their own.

Go support them, a small business not willing to compromise the quality of their food is rare.
